Our School Council have been working hard recently to set up a new challenge for the whole school. We have had many meetings over the past few weeks discussing the Big Battery Hunt challenge. To begin with we discussed as a group what the children currently do with their old batteries, lots of us were unsure and said that our grown ups put them in the bin. We talked about how we can help our environment by recycling them!
Then the children thought about different ways of letting the rest of our class and families know about our challenge. They decided to make posters to display in each year groups porch.
Finally School Council showed some great leadership skills and led their own assembly to the whole school. They talked about the importance of recycling batteries to help our environment, and how we can make a big difference. They also talked about how it is important to seek guidance from an adult when collecting batteries to make sure that we all stay safe.
Each year group has their own special BIG BATTERY HUNT recycling bucket to fill up with old batteries. If you have any at home, please bring them in so that we can fill all of our buckets, it would be great if we exceeded our target! By donating old batteries the school also gets entered into a competition to win some amazing prizes.
